SERVE THE CHILDREN AUCTION WAS SPECTACULAR!

On May 6^th participants and volunteers knocked our socks off at Serve The Children's annual benefit auction! We want to extend a hearty "Thank You" to everyone who helped make this event possible. Together we raised about $12,000 in support of our mission teams and operations, as well as $5,000 in sponsorship of children and teachers! We also want to extend a special thanks to the outpouring of people committing to support our team members in prayer.

MISSION TEAMS LEAVING IN JUNE

Mission teams will be departing to Liberia and Indonesia in less than a month! Sixteen volunteers will journey to Monrovia, Liberia and ten people will travel to Jakarta, Indonesia. These teams will provide some basic medical care and evaluations, implement educational projects, lead recreational activities, and most importantly share God's love with our kids by spending time with them. Please remember that if you sponsor a child in either of these countries our team members would be more than happy to carry over letters and pictures from you to your children. We need to have the letter and picture by June 15 ^th.  Prayer needs include safe travel, good health, and unity of teams.

BUILDING A FUTURE - MATCHING FUNDS OPPORTUNITY

Opportunity is knocking--Serve The Children has been presented with an offer to match any funds we can raise up to $6,000 between now and June 21^st toward the building of a new school at 15-Gate in Liberia. Whether you've already been considering donating to a special project or just recently found $10 in the cushions of your couch this is a great time to give!

15-Gate is our rural school in Liberia located about 25 miles from Monrovia by Gate-15 of the Firestone Rubber Plantation. This school is currently facing two challenges. First, we rent the facility on a good-faith basis without having a guarantee as to how long we will be allowed to stay there. Second, space we have is very limited compared to the extreme need for education. Our school is overcrowded at about 250 students. We own a plot of land a few minutes walk from the current school building and desire to build a new school with the capacity to serve 500 students. The total cost of building the new facility is estimated at $50,000 presently, but is likely to increase the longer we have to wait to break ground on this project.

Serve The Children is operated by volunteers. Volunteer opportunities exist across many spheres, including fundraising, data entry, grant writing and research, design, board of directors, committee members, mission team members, etc. Contact Doug at 253-851-1794 or dougc@servethechildren.com if you are interested in becoming more involved in what we do.
