AGC AUCTION WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!
First, we want to share our heartfelt thanks to all of you who supported our second benefit auction and dinner on April 3. Thanks to you, we were able to raise nearly $12,000 for Liberia this year, almost double what we raised last year. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put this event together and to all of you who participated!
MISSION TRIPS COMING UP SOON
We are planning two mission trips this year to Liberia. Mike Sandefur will lead the first team, leaving in mid-May. They will be focusing on getting to know the children at our Sinkor School and obtaining information for our child sponsorship program, as well as updating medical information on the children and running a dental clinic.
Doug Collier will lead the June team, focusing on providing teacher training at both of our schools. They will leave in late June and return in mid-July.
We appreciate your prayers for safe travel. We recently had to change all of our flights when the airline the teams were taking to Liberia cancelled all flights to West Africa. Pray for health and for all of the team members as they continue working to raise financial support for the trip.
AGC TEACHER PLANS TO IMMIGRATE
We told you last month about James Akoi, one of our teachers who has been awarded a chance to immigrate to America through the Diversity Visa program. Mr. Akoi has obtained sponsorship, but he is still in need of funds to pay for U.S. Visa fees and airfare for himself and his son Victor. He will be moving to Staten Island, New York, to live with his brother while he works to repay the loan and then make a life for himself and his family. If you are willing to help provide start-up funds for Mr. Akoi, please contact Sara Sandefur as soon as possible She can provide more information and references.
