PEN PALS and SPONSORSHIP
The
education team left Washington with pen pal letters for three classes at All
Gods Children schools in Liberia. The students’ faces lit up when they received
their mail. Most had never received a piece of mail. They
carefully opened their letters and read them over and over. We spotted them
carrying around the envelopes for days. We gave each kid paper, a pen, and an
envelope to write back. The kids at 15 Gate refused to go to lunch (their one
meal for the day) until their letters were written.
MISSION TEAMS 2007
Mission teams are currently forming for the next round of trips. Serve the
Children can take 16 people to
Liberia in June 2007 and 10 people have already shown interest. Is God calling
you? We are also planning trips to India and Indonesia. Contact
dougc@servethechildren.com for more information.
PRAYER FOCUS
This month’s Prayer Focus spotlights all of our staff members in Liberia,
India and Indonesia. Please pray for the teachers and all of the other workers
who serve at the Sinkor and 15 Gate Schools, the Ankur Children’s Home and the
Children’s Sanctuary. Pray for strong, growing relationships with Christ, and
that they will be living examples of His love to the children, to each other and
to others in the community. Thank you for your prayers. It is a privilege to
pray for one another! Look for the Prayer Focus in every newsletter. Please
contact us at
prayer@servethechildren.com if you would like to be part of our prayer
team.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We need someone to head the Spring Fundraiser in 2007. The funds raised
help meet some of the mission team expenses and are used for special projects,
such as collecting medical supplies and toys or building a kitchen in
India.
Do you have special skills in website development or designing a brochure? We could use your help! There are many other volunteer opportunities available for you. Please contact us for more information.
Magical Night of Giving
This fundraising event is at the Super Mall in Auburn on November 5th.
Tickets are $5 and 100% of each ticket we sell goes to Serve the Children. The
ticket allows you into the Mall after 6pm and enters you into a large raffle of
prizes. Free gift wrapping is available and most of the stores offer special
discounts. It’s a great chance to do some holiday shopping and support Serve the
Children.
